I just had to share my newest pattern favorite from the Simple Life Pattern Company! If you read my blog you know I love this company for all my girls’ clothes. In the past there were not a lot of knit options, but that is changing in a big way today as three previously woven patterns now have knit bodice add-ons. You can find them here.
But this post is about the Isla Infinity dress and tunic that released not too long ago. I did not test it, but ordered it shortly after the release. And you can get it now for 40% off! SLPco has their anniversary sale starting today. It is the biggest sale of the year so now is your chance. Check out my Pinterest board of all my other SLPco makes, they are all 40% off! (discount reflected in cart)
This pattern just has so many options. I made my daughter a really pretty dress using Katarina Roccella’s Pandalicious line, and I also made these more playful tunics and added my own animal appliqués to them since my youngest daughter is into all the animals right now. I will have a tutorial for the appliqués along with free templates up on Monday.
I used a rayon blend fabric for the tunics so they are more drapey than a cotton lycra would be. I also didn’t hem the skirts because you don’t have to with rayon, it won’t curl, but I am going to go back and cut the hem allowance off so they aren’t so long.
Isla features a fully lined bodice, three bodice lengths. I used the curved bodice on the Pandalicious dress and the drop waist on the tunics. there is also a straight bodice. the skirts can be gathered or circle in dress or tunic lengths. the sleeves can be tank, flutter, short, 3/4 or long. But wait, I’m not done.
Isla comes with a heart cut-out, but Katie added 6 new shapes that you can get from the Facebook Fan Group. I did the butterfly, but there is also a buck, bunny, star, tree, lightning bolt and mouse ;).
This is my daughter’s first twirly dress, can you believe it? She loves it and her sister was jealous. I also have some hilarious footage of her falling. So needless to say we’ve enrolled her in dance class LOL! But actually I’m serious 🙂
